Attacks On Mail-In Voting

• LWV, LWVMA, and a coalition of voting rights groups filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s Executive Order, which threatens to displace states’ mail-in voting laws.

Voting Rights Battles, Nationwide

• In a legal victory, Virginia agreed to end its illegal voter purge program that disproportionately impacted naturalized citizens.
• Leagues nationwide took legal action to fight for voters’ rights. These included FL, LA, MI, NC, OR, and UT.

Equal Rights

• The League released a statement on the Department of Justice’s indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center, calling it a “declaration of war on the civil rights movement.”
• LWV staff examined the ongoing fight for fair Census representation for Middle Eastern and North African voters.

Voter Registration

• The League and the Civics Center announced a cross-country collaboration to foster voter registration in high schools.
• Civil rights groups, including LWVAK, filed a lawsuit challenging the unconstitutional sharing of Alaska’s unredacted voter registration list with the US Department of Justice.
