Introduction to the Legislative Process Training
This training is perfect for anyone who is new to advocating for legislation or any veteran grassroots lobbyist looking for a refresher on how laws are made in the Garden State. Our trainers will provide an overview of the structure and powers of the New Jersey Legislature, explain how bills advance through each chamber, teach you how to research and track legislation, and let you know how you can start lobbying with the League.

Immigration Know Your Rights & Community Support
This Know Your Rights (KYR) training is designed to equip community members with clear, accurate information about the current immigration landscape. Participants will learn about recent immigration policy developments and the realities of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity happening across the country and in our communities.
The training will provide practical guidance on what to do if you or someone encounters ICE, including an overview of your constitutional rights and how to assert them safely. In addition, the session will highlight available community resources, support networks, and ways neighbors can support one another during enforcement actions or emergencies.

New Jersey Budget Process 101
Each year the Executive and Legislative Branches work together to approve a new state budget and determine how the state’s resources will be allocated. This process is complex and can be difficult to follow. During this training experts will walk you through how government agencies and the Office of Management and Budget collaborate to determine policy and program priorities, review important fiscal deadlines, and help you understand the ins-and-outs of this important government exercise.

Reaching Marginalized Voters Training
A strong democracy is a democracy where every eligible voter is empowered to actively engage in the electoral process. During this training we will discuss key voting populations that often face barriers to the ballot. We will share strategies for how to reach marginalized voters and how to help these voters exercise their voting rights.

Holding Local Government Accountable: Observer Corps 101
The League of Women Voters has been an active champion of openness in government throughout its history. As our country faces threats to the fabric of our democracy, we prepare to fight back at the grassroots level. Join us to learn how to build an Observer Corps in your community.
Through an Observer Corps program, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of New Jersey's Sunshine Laws
- Ensure their local government entities are following basic transparency and accountability procedures
- Observe and report on local government activity
- Build relationships with local government officials
- And more!

Preparing for the Census
This training will focus on the road to the 2030 Census and provide updates on recent federal changes affecting census implementation, including key challenges and opportunities ahead. Participants will also gain an overview of the redistricting process, learn about ongoing reform efforts, and explore the work the League is helping to lead to advance a fair, transparent, and community-centered redistricting process.
The session will include educational materials and concrete opportunities to get involved, ensuring participants understand how to plug in locally and statewide, and how to encourage local and state governments to fulfill their responsibilities for a fair and accurate census count.

Deep Canvassing 101: The Power of Deep, Meaningful Human Conversations
Join us for a training about the incredible power of deep canvassing. We will share raw data on its efficacy, dispel preconceived notions about the method, and discuss how we can utilize deep canvassing to increase voter turnout in the upcoming midterm elections.
This is a nonpartisan voter outreach training.
